Blurry

Booking

Blurry was formed by brothers Tyler and Brett Sidney in 2014 while living in Woodstock, Georgia. Their music showcases that their roots derive from the classic sound of 70’s hard rock and heavy metal, 90’s grunge and modern alt rock, and embraces that loud energy with the rawness found in outlaw country. “We like pushing ourselves to write outside of the box, and create songs that span many different genres, but all still feel like one cohesive project.” said by frontman Tyler Sidney in an interview with New Noise Magazine on their 2023 single, “Over Easy.” After touring much of the US since then, the band has promised to continue to offer a breath of fresh air for anyone who lends an ear and wants to enjoy some southern fried grunge.

Glazed

Booking

Jacksonville’s GLAZED is a gateway band that invites new listeners into the subculture, and that sort of self-reflection is admirable. Just about everything the act does on their recent album 1999 feels like it’s between two worlds. The meaty guitars crash down heavily before twisting back up into the stratosphere a la early ‘10s band Title Fight, while vocalist Justin Belichis’ temperament and sneering harkens back to an earlier era of pop-punk. The band itself has spanned two separate time periods, forming in 2013 and disappearing for several years after 2016’s You’ve Changed. Though they’re a bit of an anachronism, tracks like “Skakey Archery” and “Anthropology of an Apology” suggest that there’s a very good reason people keep reaching for those dusty CDs: the music’s just great. Since then, the band reemerged back into the underground post-pandemic and began touring throughout the US’ DIY scenes and supported Dikembe in 2023.

KOPPS

Booking

Never ones to take themselves too seriously, the Rochester-bred trio would tell you that their sound is like if Britney Spears and KoЯn f-cked, and they wouldn’t be entirely wrong. Anchored by Patricia Patrón’s sultry vocals, the band has a knack for pop sensibility that they immediately flip on its head, evoking a titillating mix of electro, pop and nu metal. With a flair for the dramatic, KOPPS visuals and stage performance dabble into a creepy, twisted and often bizarr-o glam vibe but always with a wry sense of humor.

Trauma Cat

Booking

Trauma Cat are equal parts band and absurdist performance art troupe. Hailing from Syracuse, New York, they call themselves “America’s sorriest power trio” — at once a superlative and a self-own befitting of the strange, tongue-in-cheek musicians at the group’s core. Co-fronted by guitarist Ralph Kojig and bassist Roman Pando with drummer Rutger DiBoyere, Trauma Cat’s sound is the bastard child of Cake and Tool, or a modern American answer to XTC — a collage of art rock and progressive rock with shades of post-punk, shoegaze, and powerpop. Lyrically, Kojig’s and Pando’s songs often reflect on religion, death, and the internet. Trauma Cat self-released their debut album, Prepare to Apologize, in 2021. Co-produced by the band and the mysterious St. Julian P. Dingus, the record marked the arrival of the trio as an ambitious DIY act to watch. Indie critics cited the band’s sense of humor and technical skill, calling the album “an irreverent and eclectic gem” (NYSMusic) with “detailed lyricism and dynamic instrumental soundscapes” (BuzzMusic). The record, NYSMusic continues, introduced listeners to Trauma Cat’s “hilarious take on the music biz” with a persona evoking “a combination of punk pioneers Devo and Saturday morning cartoon favorites Josie and the Pussycats.” In late 2022, following the release of five new singles and a satirical online “dox-u-series” called The Truth About Trauma Cat, the band dropped their sophomore effort, The Truth Doesn’t Live Here. Once again marrying biting sarcasm with a potent sadness and classic prog chops, the 19-track epic is Trauma Cat doubling down on their genre-defying, “so-weird-it-works” brand of writing and production. Today, the band are quickly drawing the attention of music fans and promoters alike with their theatrical live performances that transcend typical rock show fare in favor of an unpredictable, irony-tinged multimedia experience.
